It is possible to customise the look and feel of the Windows desktop. This includes
changing themes and customising what icons appear.
What may not be apparent is how to change what default icons (such as the Network
Neighbourhood) appear on the desktop.
The few steps below describe how this is done.
- Right-click on the desktop
- Choose Properties
- Select the Desktop tab ....
- .... and click "Customize Desktop" button
- Check/uncheck icons as required and click Ok multiple times to exit.
If you are using multiple user (logon) accounts, then you will have to perform this
customisation for every user.
The administrative user may also customise the icons for all users. To do so, logon as the admin
user and right-click on the Start Menu. Choose Explore and drop & drop icons in the
Default User folders to customise the icons present for all users.
